实验过程

2,4-Dihydroxy-3′,4′-dimethoxychalcone (4) (40 mg) was dissolved in 1-propanol (5 ml), followed by the addition of sodium borohydride (15 mg) and the mixture was allowed to react at room temperature for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, 20% acetic acid (0.2 ml) was added and the mixture was heated at 80° C. for 5 minutes and cooled down. The mixture was then separated on a pre-packed C18 column eluting with a MeOH/H2O gradient to provide 1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-propanol (5). The structure of compound (5) was confirmed by MS, UV spectroscopy, 1D and 2D 1H-NMR.
