实验过程

To a solution of 4.8 g (29.8 mmol) of indole-5-carboxylic acid in ether (200 ml) was added dropwise etheral diazomethane until the yellow color of diazomethane did not disappear. The mixture was concentrated and the obtained residue was chromatographed on silica gel (ethyl acetate as an eluant) to give 4.5 g of indole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester. Yield: 86%.
