1,1-dimethylethyl {1-[2-(4-quinolinyl)ethyl]-4-piperidinyl}carbamate (9a) (278 mg) was dissolved in chloroform and diluted with 4N HCl in dioxane solution. After stirring two hours, the reaction mixture was evaporated to dryness to afford the product as a solid (180 mg, 100%).
