实验过程

An alternative approach to synthesis of QRM 2172 would be to utilise a cheaper starting material in place of cyclododecene. In this respect, 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene is worthy of investigation. As shown in FIG. 3. the desired reaction product, 2-(4.8-cyclododecadienyl)propan-1-al (5) (referred to herein as QRM 2669) could be hydrogenated to give QRM 2172. It could also be reduced to give 2-(4,8-cyclododecadienyl)propan-1-ol (6) (referred to herein as QRM 2671), a novel molecule, which would have a strong possibility of exhibiting amber properties, together with improved biodegradability.
