The 1,3-dichloroformyl-5-hydroxyadamantane was dissolved in methylene chloride. To this solution were added a small amount of trimethylamine, and then an eguimolar amount of trimethylsilyl chloride. Reaction was carried out at room temperature to obtain 1,3-dichloroformyl-5-trimethylsiloxyadamantane.
