Методика

For comparison, a poly(styrene/BA/β-CEA) polymer was prepared. An aqueous solution of DOWFAX surfactant (0.68 g) in 514 g of deionized water was heated to 76° C., and an initiator solution of 8.1 g of ammonium persulfate in 45 g of deionized water was added. A second aqueous solution of 10.8 g DOWFAX, 257 g deionized water was prepared, and a monomer solution of 418.5 g styrene, 123 g butyl acrylate (BA), 16.2 g of β-carboxyethyl acrylate (β-CEA), 1.89 g decanediol diacrylate (ADOD) and 5.94 g dodecylthiol was added to form a monomer latex suspension. The monomer latex suspension is then added dropwise over the course of 5 hours into the first aqueous solution. After 1.5 hours of monomer latex addition, 3.29 g of additional dodecylthiol was added to the monomer latex suspension and the addition of the monomer latex suspension was then continued. Polymerization was continued for another 2 hours after completion of the addition. A poly(styrene/BA/β-CEA) polymer latex with a solids content of 41% was obtained.
