Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 82(b), but detritylating 456 mg of (5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxolen-4-yl)methyl 2-ethoxymethyl-4-(1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl)-1-{4-[2-(trityltetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]phenyl}methylimidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in step (a) above] with a 25% v/v aqueous solution of acetic acid, 286 mg of the title compound were obtained as crystals, melting at 166°-167.5° C.
