By the procedure of Example 3, Step A, 5-n-butyl-2,4-dihydro-4-[[2'-(N-trityltetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl]methyl]-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one (from Example 2, Step D) was alkylated with methyl 2-(bromomethyl)benzoate [R. M. Scrowston and D. C. Shaw, J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. I, 749 (1976)] to give a 72% yield of the titled compound as a foam, homogeneous by TLC in 98:2 CH2Cl2 --MeOH; mass spectrum (FAB) m/e 766 (M+1)+.
