The mixture is slowly filtered through charcoal into 1.1 l. of ice-cold 3 N-hydrochloric acid. The precipitate of crude material is collected on a filter, the recrystallized from benzene to give 3-nitro-4-cyclohexylphenylglyoxylic acid.
