실험 절차

A solution of 3-(methylthio)aniline (1.392 g, 10.0 mmol) and 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde (1.741 g, 10.0 mmol) in ethanol (30 mL) was stirred at reflux for 1 h. 2-Oxobutanoic acid (1.021 g, 10.0 mmol) was added portionwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at reflux for additional 3 h, cooled to room temperature, and stirred overnight. The mixture was filtered and the solid material collected to give 3-methyl-7-(methylthio)-2-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid (0.62 g, 16% yield). MS (m/z) 378.0 (M+H+).
