Ethyl 5-benzyloxy-1-methylpyrazole-4-carboxylate (755 mg, 2.9 mmol) was likewise hydrolyzed using LiOH.H2O (243 mg, 5.8 mmol) in THF (20 mL), MeOH (4 mL), and water (10 mL), to afford 608 mg of 5-benzyloxy-1-methyl-4-carboxylic acid (25) as a white solid, m.p. 117-122° C.
