Reaction of N-2-ethyl-hexylidene-(2-ethylhexen-1-ylamine) [produced by reaction of 2-ethylcaproaldehyde with ammonia] with 1,3-butadiene to 3-ethyl-3-n-butyl-12-(3-heptyl)-1-aza-1,5,9-cyclododecatriene (7:3 isomeric mixture; b.p. 106°-109° C./13 Pa; nD20 =1.4895), and hydrogenation to obtain 3-n-butyl-3-ethyl-12-(3-heptyl)-1-azacyclododecene; b.p. 130° C./4 Pa.
