실험 절차

Aluminum chloride (1.2 g) and 0.8 ml of dimethyl disulfide were dissolved in 20 ml of dichloromethane, then 1.1 g of 4-chloro-1-(4-methoxy-3-methylbenzyl)-2-phenylimidazole-5-acetic acid was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature. During this procedure, the material dissolved once and then a precipitate separated out. After the mixture was allowed to stand at room temperature for 3 hours, the supernatant was discarded and the precipitate was further treated in accordance with the procedure of Example 8 to give 0.8 g of 4-chloro-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbenzyl)-2-phenylimidazole-5-acetic acid as colorless scales, m.p. 190°-192° C.
