실험 절차

A mixture of 1-methyl-2-(chloromethyl)benzimidazole (9.8 g), 3-nitrophenol (7.5 g), cesium carbonate (17.6 g), sodium carbonate (5.7 g), potassium iodide (0.5 g) and acetone (250 ml) is heated at reflux overnight. The mixture is filtered and the resulting solution is partially concentrated. A crystalline solid forms which is filtered and dried, giving 10.8 g (70% yield) of title compound, m.p. 183°-185° C.
