The procedure followed was as described in Example 1 A, but the reaction mixture of concentrated sulphuric acid, acetic anhydride and pivaloyl cyanide was introduced into an aqueous suspension of 26.6 g (0.25 mol) of thiocarbohydrazide and 300 ml of water. 45.1 g (90.1% of theory) of 4-amino-6-tert.-butyl-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one (V) of melting point 212°-214° C. were obtained; content, according to the gas chromatogram, >99%.
