実験手順

TFA (4 ml) was added to a stirred solution of 4-tert-butyl 4′-methyl 2,6-diethoxybiphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylate (850 mg, 2.12 mmol) in CHCl3 (2 ml) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. After the solvents were removed under reduced pressure, CHCl3 and MeOH were added to the residue. The solvents were removed under reduced pressure again, and the residue was dried in vacuo to give the crude intended compound as a colorless solid. Thus obtained crude product was used in the next step without further purification.
