Mode opératoire

To 700 mg of 7,8-dimethoxy-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline, was added 14 ml of 48% hydrobromic acid, and the mixture was heated under reflux for 3 hours under an argon gas stream. The reaction mixture was cooled, and the crystals which separated ount were collected by filtration, giving 540 mg of 7,8-dihydroxy-4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline hydrobromide.
