Mode opératoire

To 450 mg of 4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-6-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline, was added 9 ml of 48% hydrobromic acid, and the mixture was heated under reflux under an argon gas stream for 3 hours. The reaction solution was cooled, and the crystals which separated out were collected by filtration, giving 390 mg of 4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-6-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline hydrobromide.
