Mode opératoire

To a solution of 1-benzyloxy-4-phenyl-butan-2-ol, (8.4 g, 32.8 mmol) in dichloromethane (400 mL) is added a mixture of pyridinium chlorochromate (14.1 g, 65.6 mmol) with SiO2 (14 g) and stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The mixture is filtered through a pad of SiO2 and concentrated to provide the title compound 5.7 g (68%) as a colorless liquid.
