Mode opératoire

To a solution of the phthalazine 7 (1.2 g, 3.88 mmol) in THF (150 mL) was added methyl lithium (1.4 M, 11 mL) at 0° C. The resulting dark brown solution was stirred 2 hours. Ice water was added to quench the reaction. The aqueous phase was extracted with DCM three times. The combined organic phase was dried over Na2SO4. Removal of the solvent afforded the crude product, which was used directly for the next step.
