Mode opératoire

A solution of 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)pentane-2,4-dione (50 mg, 0.24 mmol, prepared according to Ghosh et al, Bioorg. Med. Chem. 2003, 11, 629) and (4-benzyloxyphenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride (61 mg, 0.24 mmol) in ethanol (3 mL) was heated at 80° C. overnight. The reaction was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 1 N HCl (2×) and saturated sodium bicarbonate (1×), dried (MgSO4), and concentrated to give 57 mg of the crude pyrazole. LC-MS (C25H24N2O2 calculated 384) m/z 385 (M+H).
