Mode opératoire

To a solution of 704.5 mg (2.57 mmol) of 4-[3-(2-pyrazinecarbonylamino)propylthio]pyridine in 30 ml of methanol, 70 ml of 10% hydrochloric acid-methanol was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was distilled off and the residue was purified by recrystallization (solvent: ethanol-ether) to give 842.4 mg of the desired compound (85.6% yield, pale yellow crystals).
