Mode opératoire

Following the procedures of Example 27, a solution of 2.2 g of (E,Z,E) and (E,E,E)-7-hydroxymethyl-3,11,15-trimethyl-2,6,10,14-hexadecatetraen-1-ol disulfate pyridine salt prepared in Example 28 in 20 ml of ethyl acetate was treated with 6.0 ml (2 mM/ml) of sodium 2-ethylhexanoate to afford 1.4 g of the end product as a white powder.
