9.14 g (0.113 mole) of sodium thiocyanate are dissolved in 200 ml of acetone; 51.4 g (0.113 mole) of 3-chloro-1,1,2-triiodo-1-propene are then added. In addition, 0.2 g of sodium iodide are also introduced as the catalyst. The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 12 hours.
