Mode opératoire

2,6-Dinitrobenzenecarbonitrile (1.0 eq) and ethylpiperazine (3.6 eq) were dissolved in DMF. The resulting solution heated at 90° C. for 2 hours. The solution was cooled to room temperature and poured into H2O. A precipitate formed which was filtered to yield the desired product as a brown solid. LC/MS m/z 260.1 (MH+), Rt 1.69 minutes.
