Mode opératoire

A solution of 2-hydroxy-6-phenyl-5-p-tolylnicotinonitrile (Compound 114, 528 mg, 1.9 mmol) in POCl3 (5 ml) was heated to 110° C. overnight. POCl3 was removed and the residue was purified by MPLC column chromatography (silica gel, 10% ethyl acetate in hexane) to obtain the title compound as an oil-foam.
