Mode opératoire

Oxycodone hydrochloride (10.0 g, 28.5 mmol) was dissolved in chloroform (150 mL) and washed with 5% aq. NaHCO3 (50 mL). The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and evaporated. The residue was dried under vacuum overnight to provide oxycodone free base (8.3 g, 93%) as a white solid.
