Mode opératoire

A mixture of 22.0 g (0.094 mole) of N-(1-methyl-2-imidazolidinylidene)-N'-phenylthiourea and 14.9 g (0.105 mole) of methyliodide in 500 ml of acetone is refluxed for 2.5 hours. The reaction mixture is evaporated in vacuo and the oil obtained is crystallized from acetone-ether (1:1) to give 30 g (85%) of methyl N-(1-methyl-2-imidazolidinylidene)-N'-phenylcarbamimidothioate hydroiodide; m.p. 122°-126° C.
