Procedimiento

Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 96(b) but using 396 mg of pivaloyloxymethyl 1-{4-[2-(t-butoxycarbonyl)phenyl]phenyl}methyl-2-ethoxymethyl-4-(1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl)imidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in step (a) above], 312 mg of the hydrochloride of the title compound were obtained as an amorphous powder, melting at 65° C. (with softening).
