Procedimiento

Following the procedure of Method C, Example 1, (E)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methyl-5-[2-(3-thienyl)ethenyl]-3(2H)-furanone was reacted with 2-mercapto-1-ethanol to provide 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-[2-[(2-hydroxyethyl)thio]-2-(3-thienyl)ethyl]-2-methylfuran-3(2H)-one: 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ1.53 and 1.56 (singlets, 3H), 4.39 (m, 1H), 5.56 (overlapped singlets, 1H), 7.08-7.35 (m, 5H), 7.43-7.60 (m, 2H); MS (HR-Cl) m/z 379.0832 (M+H calcd. for C19H20FO3S2 379.0837)
