Procedimiento

The title compound was prepared according to the procedure described for Example 2 using carbonyldiimidazole (0.75 g, 4.3 mmol), 5-methyl-4-nitro-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid (0.6 g, 3.2 mmol), and piperonyl alcohol (0.5 g, 3.3 mmol) to afford 0.8 g of 5-methyl-4-nitro-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid 1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmethyl ester. A sample of the product was triturated in ethanol, cooled, filtered, and dried to give product with a mp 78-79° C.
