Procedimiento

Following a procedure similar to that described above in part B of this example except that 4-(2-ethyl-5-methyl-3-indolyl)-2,3-dichloro-4-oxo-2-butenoic acid is used in place of 4-(1,2-dimethyl-3-indolyl)-2,3-dichloro-4-oxo-2-butenoic acid and 1-benzyl-5-fluoroindole is substituted for 1,2-dimethylindole, there is obtained 5-(2-ethyl-5-methyl-3-indolyl)-5-(1-benzyl-5-fluoro-3-indolyl)-3,4-dichloro-2(5H)-furanone (Formula V: R=R3 =H; R1 =CH3CH2 ; R2 =C6H5CH2 ; Y=5-CH3 ; Y1 =5-F).
