Procedimiento

40 g of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 80 g of (S)-1-methylbutyl-p-toluene sulfonate and 46 g of potassium carbonate were refluxed in acetone for 12 hours, insoluble matters were removed from the reaction solution while the reaction solution was hot, and the solvent used was distilled out. The residue was purified by column chromatography to obtain 4-(1-methylbutyloxy)benzaldehyde (30).
