Procedimiento

The procedure described in Example 1(a) was followed, using 29.4 g of 1-phenethyl piperazine, 25.0 g of potassium hydroxide, 100 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide and 24.0 g of 1-bromo-3-chloropropane. Work-up, as described above, gave 32.6 g (64% of theory) of 1-phenethyl-4-(3-chloropropyl)piperazine dihydrochloride as an off-white crystalline solid.
