Procedimiento

The 4-(3-(2,6-Dimethylbenzyloxy)phenyl)-4-oxobutyric acid (Step D, 5.5 g, 17.6 mmol) was dissolved in abs ethanol (20 ml) by warming gently followed by addition of NaOH (0.705 g) at 0° C. temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred for one hour, concentrated in vacuo and lyophilized to give as a white solid.
