Using the method of Preparation 153 using (4-mercaptophenyl)methanol (4.42 g, 31.5 mmol) and 5-bromonicotinonitrile (5.49 g, 30.0 mmol) affords the title compound (3.60 g, 50%): 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.92 (t, J=5.9 Hz, 1H), 4.77 (d, J=5.9 Hz, 2H), 7.48 (q, J=8.2 Hz, 4H), 7.58 (t, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 8.61 (dd, J=2.0, 3.1 Hz, 2H).
