Procedimiento

A suspension of 1,1-dimethylethyl N-[4-(4-amino-2-butyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c][1,5]naphthyridin-1-yl)butyl]carbamate (13.8 g) in 1N hydrochloric acid (140 mL) was heated on a steam bath for 1.5 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool to ambient temperature and then it was made basic (pH>11) with 50% sodium hydroxide. The resulting precipitate was isolated by filtration, washed with water and then dried to provide 9.5 g of 4-(4-amino-2-butyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c][1,5]naphthyridin-1-yl)butaneamine as a white solid, m.p. 212-213° C. Analysis: Calculated for C17H24N6: % C, 65.36; % H, 7.74; % N, 26.90; Found: % C, 65.16; % H, 7.65; % N, 27.29.
