Procedimiento

LiAlH4 (1.15 g, 30 mmol) was added to a diethyl ether (100 ml) solution of (E)-2-ethyl-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenal (5.0 g, 28.7 mmol) cooled in a −78° C. cold bath.
