Procedimiento

A mixture of (E)-3-(3-methoxyphenyl)acrylic acid (3.56 g, 20 mmol). K2CO3 (3.1 g, 22 mmol), and iodomethane (4.0 g, 28 mmol) in acetone (20 mL) was heated to 70° C. for 16 hours. The mixture was concentrated and partitioned between water and ethyl acetate to afford the crude title compound.
