Procedimiento

A solution of 1.83 g (9.6 mmol) of p-toluenesulfonic acid chloride in 5 ml of pyridine was added dropwise to a solution of 1.06 g (8.0 mmol) of 5-methoxyhexanol in 5 ml of pyridine below 5° C. in an iced water bath. After stirring for 6 hours at room temperature, the reaction mixture was injected into 100 ml of cold water and, after being acidified with 6N-hydrochloric acid, was extracted with isopropyl ether. The organic layer was washed with water and dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, followed by distilling-off of the solvent to obtain 5-methoxyhexyl-p-toluenesulfonate.
