Procedure

4-n-Octyloxybenzoic acid in the amount of 2.0 g was reacted with 1 g of thionyl chloride in 10 ml of benzene at a temperature of 100°-110° C. for 6 hours to obtain 4-n-octyloxybenzoic chloride in the amount of 2.2 g.
