Procedure

The title compound was prepared in one step from N,N′-dibenzylethylenediamine and cyanogen bromide as described in Procedure A. The precipitated solid was filtered off the reaction mixture, washed with acetonitrile and recrystallized from MeOH to give the title compound as a hydrogen bromide salt. 1NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 3.48 (s, 4H), 4.61 (s, 4H), 7.32-7.46 (m, 10H), 8.51 (s, 2H). MS (ES+) m/z 266 ([M+1]+, 100).
