Procedure

A solution of 416.53 grams (3.711 mole) 1-octene and 8.35 grams (0.0758 mole) 1,7-octadiene (molar charge ratio 98:2) in 450 grams of heptane was polymerized with Et2AlCl (4.14 millimoles) and AATiCl3 (2.75 millimoles) at 25° C. for 26 hours. During the course of the reaction, hydrogen was bubbled through the reaction mixture. The conversion of the polymer was 56 percent, inherent viscosity was 1.3 dl/g. The composition of monomers in the copolymer was 99:1 mole ratio from NMR analysis.
