Procedure

16 ml (220 mmol) thionyl chloride was added to a solution of 10 g (87 mmol) L-proline in 200 ml methanol at 0° C. The reaction mixture is refluxed for 1 h. The solvent was evaporated. Yield 14 g (86 mmol, 99%).
