Procedure

To 13.2 g of 1-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanone in 100 mL of DMF was added 23.8 g of N,N-dimethyformamide dimethyl acetal. The mixture was stirred at 75° C. for 16 hours. The solution was then concentrated and used without further purification in the next step.
