Procedure

Example 1 was repeated with the difference that the sample to be tested was a tyrosine of unknown enantiomer composition, the comparison samples were (RS)-, (R)-, and (S)-tyrosine, and the mobile phase was a mixture of methanol, water, and acetonitrile in a 1:1:0.6 ratio by volume. In this case, the (R)-tyrosine gave a spot with an Rf -value of 0.34 and the (S)-tyrosine gave a spot with an Rf value of 0.26.
