Procedure

KSCN (2.48 g, 25.5 mmol) was added to a solution of Benzyl 1-methylcyclopropane-1-sulfonate (4.9 g, 25.5 mmol) in DME/H2O (1:1, 120 mL) and continued stirring at 100° C. for 16 h. Reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was washed with n-Pentane and dried to afford Potassium 1-methylcyclopropane-1-sulfonate (Int-26) which was used in the next step without further purification.
