Procedure

684 g of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) were initially introduced at 80° C. in a 1 l round-bottomed flask and 0.002 g of isophthaloyl dichloride was added. 54.4 g of trifluoroethanol were slowly added dropwise and stirring was effected until the NCO value was 43.2% by weight. The mixture was separated by distillation on a thin-film evaporator and 47 g (=47% of theory) of the title compound having an NCO content of 22.7% by weight were obtained.
