Vorschrift

To a cold (ice bath) stirred solution of 25 g (0.09 mole) of 4,6-dichloro-2-methylthio-5-phenylpyrimidine in 250 ml of methanol was added slowly 10 g (0.2 mole) of hydrazine hydrate. After one hour the mixture was allowed to warm to about 20° C., and was then stirred at 20° C. for about 16 hours. The precipitate was separated by filtration to provide 4-chloro-6-hydrazino-2-methylthio-5-phenylpyrimidine. Recrystallization twice from hexanes/cyclohexane provided white crystals, m.p. 134°-135° C. Analysis: Calculated for C11H11ClN4S: %C, 49.5; %H, 4.15; % N, 21.0; Found: %C, 49.4; %H, 4.0; %N, 20.9.
