Vorschrift

Dissolve 2-propyl-3-t-butyl-5-isopropylbenzoquinone (10 mmol), 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane (1.79 mL, 10 mmol) and iodine (0.05 g) in methylene chloride (30 mL). Stir at reflux for 30 minutes and extract with 1N sodium hydroxide (30 mL). Acidify the aqueous phase with concentrated hydrochloric acid and extract into ethyl acetate (4×10 mL), dry (Na2SO4) and evaporate the solvent in vacuo to give 2-propyl-3-t-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-isopropylphenol.
